Gena Sluga Named as One of the Top 25 Women Lawyers in Arizona

Congratulations to Christian, Dichter & Sluga partner Gena Sluga, who has been included in the 2013 list of Top 25 Women Lawyers in Arizona by Southwest Super Lawyers.  Gena is the only Insurance Law attorney included in this list.

Southwest Super Lawyers’ selections are based upon a survey of 18,000 active lawyers in Arizona and New Mexico, as well as staff research and evaluation  of a nominee’s background and experience in her or his area of practice.  This elite list of Top 25 Women Lawyers is comprised of the female Super Lawyers in Arizona who scored the highest point totals in the Arizona nomination, research and blue ribbon review process.

Christian Dichter & Sluga Attorneys Selected as 2013 Southwest Super Lawyers & Rising Star

Congratulations to Christian, Dichter & Sluga associate Alison R. Christian who was selected for inclusion on the 2013 Super Lawyers Southwest Rising Stars list, an honor for young lawyers who have shown excellence in their practice areas.  The designation of Rising Star is given to only the top 2.5 percent of lawyers in Arizona or New Mexico who are either 40 years old or younger or in practice for ten years or less.  Ms. Christian was honored for the second year in a row in the Insurance Law category where 3 of the firm’s lawyers are recognized as either Southwest Super Lawyers or Rising Stars honorees.

Partners, Doug Christian, Steve Dichter and Gena Sluga have also been selected for inclusion on the 2013 Southwest Super Lawyers list of honorees.   Steve and Doug have been honored in their practice areas of White Collar Criminal Defense and Insurance Law since the recognition’s inception in 2007.  Gena received this recognition for a second year in the Insurance Law category.  Southwest Super Lawyers’ selections are based upon a survey of 18,000 active lawyers in Arizona and New Mexico as well as staff research and evaluation  of a nominee’s background and experience in her or his area of practice.  Only 5 percent of the lawyers in Arizona are listed in Southwest Super Lawyers.

CDS Attorney Alison Christian Featured In The Arizona Law Member Spotlight

Thanks to the efforts of Dean & Ralph W. Bilby Professor of Law Marc Miller, the University of Arizona College of Law recently started a weekly newsletter for its alumni.  The email messages spotlight members of the Arizona Law network and share their contributions to our legal community.  The March 13th message featured CDS attorney Alison Christian and highlighted her efforts to make a difference for women lawyers through the AADC Ladder Down program.  Ms. Christian co-founded the program with local attorney Beth Fitch and together they hope to provide women lawyers with the skills they need to develop business, become more visible leaders, and encourage mentorship.  For a full copy of the newsletter, please click here.   Ms. Christian has also been invited to speak for the Arizona Law chapter of the LWA on April 3, 2013 and will be joined by Ladder Down participants, and fellow alumna, Rebecca Covell and Nicholle Harris.

 

 

Doug Christian Elected Fellow of the American College of Coverage and Extracontractual Counsel

CDS founding partner Doug Christian has been elected a Fellow of the newly formed American College of Coverage and Extracontractual Counsel.  ACCEC is comprised of experienced lawyers representing policyholders and insurers in insurance coverage and extra-contractual matters.  Fellows of the College are recognized authorities in a wide range of legal and insurance disciplines.  Membership is limited and by invitation only.

ACCEC’s founding President, Thomas F. Segalla explains:

Christian Dichter & Sluga Proudly Sponsors the AADC’s “Ladder Down” Program For Women Lawyers

Alison Christian and Beth Fitch have partnered with the Arizona Association of Defense Counsel to create a business development program for women lawyers that will launch in January 2013.  The program’s objective is to empower women by giving them directed training and providing them with practical, tangible tools for getting ahead in the legal profession.  The program will take place over the course of a year with 3-hour training sessions each month dedicated to the following three topics: leadership, mentoring, and business development.  The sessions will be taught by industry leaders and experts, such as Lynn Moran, Marianne Trost, and Janice Brown.  The AADC program is co-sponsored by Righi Law Group, Christian Dichter & Sluga, Lorber Greenfield & Polito, Koeller Nebeker Carlson Haluck, Thomas Thomas & Markson, Rai & Barone, Lewis and Roca and Jones Skelton & Hochuli.  For more information on the program or to apply for the 2013 session, please email Alison Christian at achristian@hcdslaw.com.

CDS welcomes Lon Johnson

Congratulations on passing the Arizona Bar examination and welcome to our newest lawyer, Lon Johnson.  Lon is a 2012 graduate of the Arizona State University, Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, where he was President of the Student Bar Association.  Lon earned his undergraduate degree from Princeton University and studied in Cape Town, South Africa with an undergraduate emphasis in Anthropology and African Studies.  Lon will work with us on commercial and insurance litigation matters.

CDS Welcomes Charlie Callahan

Charlie Callahan joined Christian Dichter & Sluga on May 1, 2012. Charlie Callahan is a Nebraska native, and after completing his undergraduate work at the University of Nebraska he obtained his law degree at Arizona State University, Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law.

Charlie brings 19 years of experience to CDS, having focused his practice exclusively in the area of insurance law, and litigating complex civil and insurance cases in a wide variety of areas. He also brings substantial experience in appellate work, having argued numerous times in the Arizona Court of Appeals, as well as the Arizona Supreme Court and Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Charlie is active in the civil defense bar, currently serving as a member of the Board of Directors for the Arizona Association of Defense Counsel (including being a member of the Amicus Committee). With our firm, Charlie will continue to emphasize insurance coverage, bad faith, and complex civil litigation.
