After law school at Virginia, Steve was a member of the Army Judge Advocates General’s Corps, obtained an LLM in Taxation while stationed in Maryland, where he prosecuted and defended courts-martial cases. The Army eventually sent Steve to Ft Huachuca, Arizona where he continued developing trial skills. Steve left active service in 1975 and joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Tucson. He later transferred to Phoenix. Steve prosecuted tax and white-collar offenses in Phoenix. He left government service for private practice in 1980 and has divided his practice since then between the defense of white collar criminal cases and a large variety of business disputes. Steve is one of only a very small handful of Phoenix lawyers who is and who historically has been simultaneously listed by Best Lawyers for both business litigation and white collar criminal defense.
